The Bob Jones Trail is the "City to the Sea" bike trail. Used as a hiking, jogging and biking route, the paved trail winds through the forested valley alongside San Luis Obispo Creek towards Avila Beach. From the trail are views of bridges spanning the wide creek, the Avila Beach Golf Course, the town of Avila and the Pacific Ocean.

Patriot Sportfishing specializes in rockcod fishing during open season. The 8 hour trips usually fish the local reefs in waters 60'-240'. The 10 hour trips fish off Pt. Sal and Pt. Purisima in depths of 240' or less. This remote area is known for high quality rockcod. The 5 hour trips fish the local reefs off Pt. San Luis and Shell Beach. They fish for Rockcod, Albacore, and Salmon in season

Pecho Coast Trail Avila Beach

Every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon the beautiful Pecho Coast Trail is opened for a guided walk to the historic Point San Luis Lighthouse, built in 1890. Along the way you will see beautiful views of the harbor, in addition to learning about the history of the Lighthouse and the trail. Hikers must be at least 9 years old and in good physical condition as the trail is somewhat strenuous, lasting about 4 hours. Saturday offers 2 hikes at different paces.

Until 1933 the Lighthouse projected a beam of light 20 miles out to sea from one kerosene lamp set high in its tower, by collecting all the lamp’s light with over 100 Lenses made by French craftsman.
Today you can travel back in time in our classic trolley to the historic Light Station Park. Tours are on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. Fares include the cost of docent led tours in the Lighthouse & Head Keepers Quarters.
